There are three categories of syllabi. (Look for the button to return to this page. Realize that the banner at the top of these pages would not appear on your syllabus when posted to your university's website.)
  • The simplest transformation depicts your syllabus online in identical format to its present form. Fonts are simplified to serif and sans serif. Your highlighted email address will bring up a form to send you email when clicked. Click here to see the no-frills sample.
  • The next step up is a transformation which allows for links the students can use to bring up new pages. Graphics enhance the appearance of this model as do tables. Click here to see the interactive sample.
  • The most complex transformation results in a syllabus which includes animated graphics, frames, buttons and images which change when the cursor passes over them, and links to other websites. Click here to see the wow! sample.

rice list and ordering instructions
Here's the way it works: you send us a copy of your syllabus (paper copy sent by mail or electronic version attached to an email) with indications of what features you desire, e.g., link to another site. We will send you a price proposal. If you accept, you will mail us a check for the amount and the name of the information services person from your campus (we need to arrange for posting your syllabus to your campus website). Within 10 days, we will have your syllabus ready and will post it to a temporary site for you to examine. If you are not satisfied, we will refund your money and destroy the electronic version. Although we are willing to tweak the colors and other such minor revisions at no charge, major changes made to the syllabus after completion will require a surcharge.
The pricing is as follows
  • No-frills syllabus--$10 to $20
  • Interactive syllabus--$25 to $50
  • Wow! syllabus--$40 to $75

bout the SyllaBusiness magicians

At present, two people handle the syllabus transformation business: David and Cathy Howle. Dr. Howle has taught undergraduate and graduate religion courses for about ten years. His studies of HTML and Javascript helped him transform his own syllabi to online versions. His wife Cathy assists with word processing and editing; she has 25 years secretarial experience. Dr. Howle is a member of the Society of Biblical Literature and the National Association of Professors of Hebrew. The Howles began SyllaBusiness at the start of the new millenium. They currently reside in Hawaii (which explains the fish!).
